Just had a SomatoEmotional Release session on Wednesday and THIS EXACT SENTENCE CAME INTO MY HEAD while I was breathing through a stuck fascial spot. I am also eldest daughter, entrepreneur and mom of 2. Seeing a trend. But unfortunately don't have any answers yet. If I had to guess... it's deep rooted in being assigned group projects where others let the ball drop and didn't care about it one minute after that meanwhile I was emotionally recovering from a less than perfect grade for a week or two. Best of luck! You are not in this alone!

Love this conversation and I can so relate to the eldest daughter theory!

Pretty sure it’s eldest daughter. However, I have slowly and I mean slowly learned to delegate. However unlike you it also translated in raising kids and now with elderly parents. It’s instinct for me. It’s not that I dont think others can do or that I am somehow better, it just seems harder/slower to go figure that out, than do myself.

I think it's the eldest daughter thing. Every work evaluation I have ever had talks about how I don't/wouldn't ask for help. Yes, because I need to do it myself!

Personal life I do better.

Isn't it a matter of trust? Always think in terms of mentoring and development and you'll feel able to let go and get the results you want... when you are ready. If you don't have that team around you who have been guided to support you and challenge you in a positive way, you just won't let go. It's a journey and you will get there! Love your column !

I'm with you and Haleigh! Between my husband and I, we are entrepreneurs with 4 active businesses (and a few sleepers! 🙈), mom, eldest daughter (but middle child!) and have a hard time delegating work or home things. 100% same mentality. Yet to find any solves. We could all band together and be truly unstoppable! #girlpower
