Can someone please explain to me why I am so bad at asking for help? Make it make sense. Is it the eldest daughter in me? Is it because I am a control freak and I strive to be an overachiever. Do I have trust issues? Some chaotic combo of all of this? I have had this exact conversation with some very important people in my life and I have walked away from every single convo with no resolution. So, bringing it to the group chat because clearly that’s the next logical step.
To be fair, this is a work thing. In my personal life I am excellent at leaning on people. I will call a friend, ask Thomas for help, outsource the things that need outsourcing. I’m very capable. But the second it becomes work related, something in my brain short circuits and I say no it’s fine, I’ve got it before I’ve even finished the thought or sentence. Every single time. I run three companies. Three. I have a restaurant, a product line, a content business, two kids, a husband, you get the idea. You would think I would have figured this out but I can confidently tell you that this is my biggest weakness.
It’s only October but I am making a new years resolution right now to figure this out both in terms of learning to ask for help and also following through with it. Ok, I feel lighter now that I’ve admitted my greatest weakness. Let’s get to our regularly scheduled program:
Recipes on Repeat:
Beef Fajitas - I could eat these 3 times a week. The marinade is stellar.
Mom’s Cucumber Salad - its going to be 100 in LA next week so I will living off this. It’s our side dish for basically 99% of our meals
Greek Chicken Bowls - the Greek Chicken is so addicting.
Grilled Corn and Zucchini - last week I was ready to welcome fall but with this heat wave, I’m back to the grill.
Zucchini Pasta - I am bulk making this zucchini sauce and freezing it while zucchinis are DIRT cheap at the market.

Where We Ate:
Rory’s Place - the best sandwiches in all of Ojai. OMG their Ham and Butter sandwich is life
What I’m Watching
Night Manager Season 2 - I’m fascinated why it took 10 years to make season 2.
Practical Magic 1+2 - I had never seen the first one before (who am I and how did I miss out on that during my childhood) and lemme tell ya, the first one is MAGICAL.
Slow Horses - a new season just came out and as usual, Gary Oldman is amazing.
Influenced
I desperately needed new sports bras and a friend told me these are great. I shall report back.
Bought the Yaya jeans we are all obsessed with in black. They are legit the perfect cut.
Things I Sent to the Group Chat
This video made the rounds and it’s kinda terrifying so I’ll leave you with that LOL
Hope everyone has a great weekend! xx

Just had a SomatoEmotional Release session on Wednesday and THIS EXACT SENTENCE CAME INTO MY HEAD while I was breathing through a stuck fascial spot. I am also eldest daughter, entrepreneur and mom of 2. Seeing a trend. But unfortunately don't have any answers yet. If I had to guess... it's deep rooted in being assigned group projects where others let the ball drop and didn't care about it one minute after that meanwhile I was emotionally recovering from a less than perfect grade for a week or two. Best of luck! You are not in this alone!
Great topic!
